Spring Break in Las Vegas

Once again we traveled to our favorite place.... LAS VEGAS! We had four days packed with fun. The weather was great while we were there. In Indiana, however, it was terrible, so a good week to miss!

By now everyone should know we are planners and love to get good deals. Well Las Vegas is a town of deals if you look close enough. Before we went we were able to snag some items from our MyVegas game on Facebook. We had two FREE night helicopter tours over the strip, a complimentary picture with the helicopter, two FREE show tickets to KA at MGM, two FREE show tickets to The Beatles LOVE at the Mirage, and two 2-for-1 Buffet tickets to the Mirage buffet. All those items together were valued at over $600. We paid $0 for them. I also got some items off Groupon for super cheap!

So before we even left we had planned out what nights we were doing what and so on.

We arrived in Las Vegas on April 1st and headed directly to our hotel. This was our first time at Harrah's. We loved our location. It was really close to several hotels, so it gave us a lot of gambling, entertainment, and food options.

We had our helicopter tour planned for that evening at 8 pm. If you ever wondered if you would like to do a helicopter tour, I would highly recommend it. We were on Maverick Tours.

They were great. They send a shuttle to pick you up at your hotel, take you to their area, and take you back. Did I mention that they have complimentary champagne? Umm... hello! JACKPOT!

Anyways, it was so much fun. I hated that it only lasted 10 minutes, but I had the best seat in the helicopter. Joe probably had the worst seat, but I was able to get a lot of pictures and video. We had a wonderful time and we were so happy we got to do it.

Monday was a slow day. I had a little too much fun on night one, so I was trying to recuperate. We used one of our 2-for-1's at the Mirage breakfast buffet. They have a lot to choose from and it was delicious.

We went back to our hotel afterward and took a nap. We took some walks around the hotels and watched the final game of March madness. We were able to use our other 2-for-1 buffet passes that night as well. We redeemed our two FREE tickets to the Beatles LOVE on Monday night. If you enjoy Beatles music, you will enjoy this show.

Tuesday we had a couple of our shows planned in the evening. We started our day with breakfast at Hash House a Go Go. It's always delicious and has HUGE portions! I mean look at my pancake! HELLO!

We walked around and just had a lot of fun going in and out of places. We ate dinner at Earl of Sandwich at PH. If you have never ate there, please do! It's so good! We saw Xavier Mortimer at PH. I had gotten his tickets off Groupon after seeing reviews. I can't say we were very impressed. I was disappointed that I paid for us to go see him.

After his show we headed over to MGM to see KA. We got these tickets for free from MyVegas. WE WERE FRONT ROW.

I knew I had gotten good seats when I had redeemed our vouchers, I just didn't realize front row. We loved the show it's so action packed and has a story to follow while watching. It's one of our favorites!

Wednesday we had a pretty easy day. Mac King has been a show at Harrah's for about 20 years. We have always heard he was good, but never were near Harrah's or had time to see him. Since we stayed at Harrah's it was the perfect opportunity. There is a deal that not everyone knows about. If you go to the rewards desk and ask for show vouchers, you will get the tickets for free with the purchase of a drink which comes out to $14.99. So not only did we get a show, we got a drink as well. Joe and I both would rate him a 5/5. He was hilarious and a great magic show.

We planned to head to Downtown Las Vegas for the evening. We always have a lot of fun down there.

Joe did amazing while downtown. He won at pretty much everything he did... I on the other hand did not, but I'm just glad he won! We played a mixture of things while downtown. We played Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Slots, and digital horse racing. We had some free food from our last stay downtown, so we enjoyed dinner at the D Grill.

This trip was the first time we used Uber or Lyft and they are AMAZING! I will never take a taxi again. They were super easy to use and cost efficient.

We had a great trip. We missed our girl while we were gone, but had an amazing time together. I can't wait until our next adventure.

Until next time,

Kara

Ways to Save Money on Groceries

The Hubby and I have been together 8 years this month. We have been together since we were freshman in college.  The unique and fun thing about our relationship is that we have kind of grown up as adults together.  When we were in college we both were living year to year on what we earned from working in the summer months. That means we never could be extravagant with what we purchased for groceries. We learned pretty early how to budget our money to stretch it as far as we could.  Now that we both have worked full time for 5 years, times have changed, but I still love to save money. There is no better feeling than getting a great deal! Here are a few ways to save at the grocery store: Digital Coupons : These are so easy and help save big. I mainly grocery shop at Kroger. It is super easy to register your Shoppers Card to instantly download digital coupons to it. This is what I primarily do to save our family money. I try to combine the digital c...

Date Night Jar

The Hubby and I have been together 8 years. The one thing we have consistently argued over for those 8 years is the question, "What do you want to do?" I consider us to both be intelligent adults, but when that question comes out of the other persons mouth its like we become fools and have no thoughts. Our common answer is "I don't know" or "I don't care".  Well I found something to fix that problem. Our date night jar! I saw the idea on Pinterest (where all ideas live of course) and decided it was an inexpensive, crafty solution to our problem. All you need are Popsicle sticks, markers, a jar, and your list of activities you want to use. Both the Hubby and I brainstormed ideas in the categories of free dates, cheap dates, more expensive dates, and plan ahead dates. Here is our example list: Making the list was the hardest part. There are a lot of online links for date ideas. Just cater your list to your tastes and preferen...

Book & Movie Review- Molly's Game

Joe and I recently read the book Molly's Game. We decided we would read the book while we waited for the movie to come out on DVD. photo credit link It is hard to believe it was a true story and just not made up. I am not one who likes biographies or reading to "learn." I like a good dramatic up and down story and this fits into that category. It's an action packed book about poker, greed, and knowing who to trust.  Molly Bloom- photo credit link The book details Molly Bloom's rise to run a secret celebrity rich poker game in back rooms and fancy hotels. The book drops some big names that many will recognize from many movies we watch on the big screen. IMDb's description of the movie is, "The true story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier, who ran the world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game and became an FBI target." photo credit link I would highly recommend reading the book first, because the movie does not use names ...
