Fall Break in Las Vegas

I am officially back to the land of the working people. P.S. I hate it. Can't we just always be on vacation? No? Okay, well I guess I'll just tell you what we did while we were on vacation.

We just got back from 7 nights in Las Vegas. Don't get me wrong, Vegas is still our city, but 7 nights was a little long. Our butts dragged all the way home!

We packed in a ton in the week we were there!

I always love being in Vegas during March Madness or during football season. Everyone is so pumped to cheer on their teams. Our football gear is always a huge hit!

We saw Nathan Burton's comedy magic show. It was awesome, we really enjoyed it. We got our tickets on Groupon.com for $10 each! You can't beat that!

We saw Zarkana at the Aria Hotel & Casino.

Wow, this hotel is gorgeous and Zarkana was AWESOME. It was one of our favorites!

We also saw Love at the Mirage. The music was good, but it wasn't our favorite show.

It didn't have the WOW factor that I feel like most Cirque shows have. If you loved the Beatles, you would love this show.

We love the MYVegas app. We got our Zarkana and Love tickets for free. Plus we got 2 free buffets from all the station casinos. This allowed us to visit some more places we had never been to, plus get free food! That's a win-win!

We were also able to go to the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium.

It was really neat to see all the animals!

We got to see the divers trying to get a tiger shark to go into a separate holding tank to get examined by the vet! We also got this free from MYVegas!

We stayed at the Gold Coast for 4 nights and the Golden Gate hotel for 3 nights.

We enjoyed both places, but I really like staying downtown, this is our room at the Golden Gate. We upgraded to a suite.

We went bowling, watched The Martian in 3D (can you say awesome?!?) and The Intern. Oh yeah and we also got massages!

Plus add in all the walking we did. We were busy people! Here are some of the random pictures from the week!

One of the best things to watch in Vegas is the fountain show at the Belliago. Here is a clip of one of the shows we watched this time!

We sucked in the gambling department this trip, but we can't always be winners, right? That's my story at least!

Until next time,

Kara

Book & Movie Review- Molly's Game

Joe and I recently read the book Molly's Game. We decided we would read the book while we waited for the movie to come out on DVD. photo credit link It is hard to believe it was a true story and just not made up. I am not one who likes biographies or reading to "learn." I like a good dramatic up and down story and this fits into that category. It's an action packed book about poker, greed, and knowing who to trust.  Molly Bloom- photo credit link The book details Molly Bloom's rise to run a secret celebrity rich poker game in back rooms and fancy hotels. The book drops some big names that many will recognize from many movies we watch on the big screen. IMDb's description of the movie is, "The true story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier, who ran the world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game and became an FBI target." photo credit link I would highly recommend reading the book first, because the movie does not use names ...

Friday Things

Blogging has been one of those things that has fallen to the wayside. Life gets busy. Anyone else with an almost two year old knows... you can't turn your back for a minute!  Anyways, I want to try to blog more often. It's a way to look back at things we have done and reflect. Time flies and you forget little things and my blog is a way to look back. So to catch up with us a little. Cassie will be 22 months this week. WHERE HAS TIME GONE? I mean we have an almost 2 year old. It's hard to think about. She is spunky, stubborn, sweet, and funny. She's talking more and more and getting louder at doing it. Our nephew has a bounce house at his birthday party and she loved it! She isn't too coordinated yet, but she will sure try to keep up with the older kids. PS. Do you see that little pony?!? I love it, but seriously if she doesn't have her hair in a pony tail it looks ridiculous. She is at the weird growth stage where she doesn't have a ton but it has a ...

Book Recommendations for October

Here are some recent books that I enjoyed. Mythos Academy Series- by Jennifer Estep I really enjoyed reading this young adult series. It incorporates action, adventure, romance, mythology, and mystery all into one high school! It's an easy read that keeps you wanting to know more.  picture source PLUS, it helped me answer a recent mythology Jeopardy question...Can we say invaluable information?!? First Frost is the first book in the series. Here is the description: I am Gwen Frost, and I have a Gypsy gift. It's called psychometry – that's a fancy way of saying that I see images in my head and get flashes of other people's memories off almost everything I touch, even guys. My gift makes me kind of nosy. Okay, okay, maybe a lot nosy—to the point of obsession sometimes. I want to know everything about everyone around me. But even I don't want to know the secrets my friend Paige is hiding or the terrible loss that will send me to a new school – Mythos Ac...
