I am always on the look out for good deals at the grocery. Well I came upon the Manager's Special aisle and found a few cake mixes on sale for $.79 each because the boxes were bent.
I bought like 7 mixes! However, the Hubby doesn't like cake. He will eat it if we are at a birthday party or a wedding, but he will never request it. For his birthday I will either make cookies or brownies, because he doesn't want cake.
I decided something needed to be done with some of these mixes! I decided to search Pinterest for ideas. I stumbled across people using cake mixes to make cookies! SCORE!
These are super easy to throw together for an easy after dinner desert!
Cake-Mix Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
1 Yellow or White Cake Mix
2 eggs
5 T butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups of chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 in pan. Mix all ingredients together, then add in chips and mix, spread into the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes. Let bars cool slightly before cutting into squares.
You could adjust this mix to your family's likes or dislikes. You could add butterscotch chips, white chocolate, peanut butter or anything really!
The Hubby said he liked them too!
I hope you enjoy!
Until next time,
Kara
